Ramona Rocky Top Rancher

by Tyler Stamets
Young man staring out the window,
on a troop train carrying boys to war
To Santa Ana army air corps training station
they knew what they were fighting for
The windows open and he feels the California breeze
smells the sweet perfume of citrus trees
Makes him feel like nothings has before.
North Carolina isn't his future anymore.
Old Ramona Rocky Top Rancher
Got a dream of a new home
Old Ramona Rocky Top Rancher
He’ll find his place to roam
That young man, he packed up all his household,
moved them west to Escondido
He found some land where he could start upon his plan
and learned how to make things grow
Was not enough though, it was just a few trees
He need more space to do as he please
Rocky Hills in the distance callin out his name,
The opportunity to stake his claim
Old Ramona Rocky Top Rancher,
Know where he’s got to go
Old Ramona Rocky Top Rancher,
room for those trees to growHe built his Home up on the hill see from Ramona to the ocean
Freedom to do what he will and to pursue his passions
Workin hard and on his own terms he did it his own way
Created a legacy that lives today
That man grew old upon his mountain,
he lived there the rest of his days
His wife and family carry on without him,
but won’t ever be the same
The trees are gone only rocks remain,
The sun is setting over his domain
But love surrounds us on these rocks like the wind,
the next chapter is about to begin.

The Ramona Music Alliance (RMA) was founded in 2022 by local musicians Jon Hasz and Ashley E. Norton.
The idea is to make the amazing music scene that is already organically growing into an official organization.
The goal is to continue to encourage and support live music venues and each other,
help build audiences and share information and resources.
Ramona is a happy place with great music and wine!
We hope to expand and continue to watch it grow together, as the amazing community we are.
