In 2014, Doug’s wife Barbara said “we need a single story home.” Doug said, “If you find one with a view, ok, but otherwise I’m fine living in this 2 story house we’ve been in for 30 plus years.” It took her 4 years, but she found their dream house on 4.5 acres near Mt. Woodson, with a nearly 365 degree view. They moved here in 2018. Doug was SO impressed by the house and the hills of Ramona it sits in, he wrote the first verse and chorus to his song, sent it to his realtor who added Tim Connelly’s photographs and posted it on his website. It got more than 20,000 views and hundreds of great comments from people about their love of Ramona. Then he added a verse and chorus about Main Street Ramona. Next, a verse and chorus about the incredible skies and sky shows up here.
In 2019 Doug, Danielle Hughes (who has a great song on this CD) and Leah Keane, (who has an awesome song on this CD) launched Wine and Jam at Three Hills Winery where 6 to 8 musicians sit in a circle, pass the microphones around and entertain guests who surround them on the tasting patio… 3rd Friday of every month. There he met Steve Tally, Justin Craddock, Travis Billy Ross (who also has a great song on this CD), Cheri Choy, (who has a great song on this CD) Patrick Hadley, Dana Duplan (with an awesome song on the CD) and more. Through some of those relationships, he met Thea Tochihara and Ashley E. Norton co-producer of this CD… (who BOTH have Epic songs in this collection). Once introduced to, and welcomed into, the incredible Ramona Music Scene, Doug wrote the final verse and chorus to his song… this one about Ramona’s awesome Musicians, many of whom are featured on this collection. Being part of Ramona’s incredible music scene at this point in time is the best thing EVER!
Final note. When Doug’s daughter-in-law, Jordan heard his song she said to Doug’s son, Todd… “Ooooo… your dad used a cuss word in his song!” My son’s response… “Well, technically, he didn’t.” You listen to the song, and you decide.
